The legend of Jayden Daniels continues to grow. The rookie quarterback is on track to lead the Washington Commanders to their fourth straight victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Jayden Daniels has 166 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception through three-quarters of the game. The 2nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft took less than 5 minutes to connect with wideout Terry McLaurin on a 66-yard touchdown pass. The Commanders began their offensive campaign with a strong statement play.

Jayden Daniels and the Commanders had possession of the ball at their 20-yard line. After the snap, the quarterback dropped back immediately setting himself up in the perfect position to throw a long pass, and took his time finding Terry McLaurin.

Terry McLaurin and Jayden Daniels have established great chemistry in a short time

The Commanders‘ offensive line deserves credit for keeping the Browns’ D-line at bay. This gave McLaurin the time to execute his route perfectly and get himself open while Jayden Daniels had the opportunity to time his pass and be accurate.

McLaurin caught the ball despite being pursued by Denzel Ward. The cornerback was able to grab onto McLaurin’s ankles and throw him off-balance. This resulted in the wideout stumbling right before he made his way to the endzone. It was a beautiful play to witness. The throw from Daniels, the catch from McLaurin, and that photo finish.

Jayden Daniels had another opportunity to throw a 98-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz later in the game on a Hail Mary play. But the quarterback overthrew the ball and a wide-open Ertz was unable to catch it thus, costing them a chance to further increase the lead. Despite that error, the Commanders harbor a comfortable lead and are on their way to beating the Browns.
