In terms of cricketing achievements, 2020 wasn’t a particularly terrific year for the 32-year-old going by the standards he had set for himself in the past. The batting ace couldn’t notch up a single century in the calendar year despite the fact that he consistently scored half-centuries. With his side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), it was the same old story as his side couldn’t get their hands on the elusive trophy.

2020 was also the year, his wife Anushka Sharma got pregnant with the couple’s first child. The same received plenty of attention and was celebrated by millions of people on Twitter as did Kohli’s decision to leave the Indian team on ‘paternity leave’ to be with his wife and new-born.

The duo were in the news for various reasons throughout the course of the year. The former didn’t play a single match of international cricket but announced his retirement which led to an abundance of Tweets on the same. Dhoni’s side in the IPL, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) struggled this season and failed to reach the playoffs of the tournament for the first time ever which again received a lot of attention.
