Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman has said that MS Dhoni’s farewell match will be in the home of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Chepauk.
On August 15, MS Dhoni shocked everyone as he announced his retirement from international cricket and mark full-stop on his 16 years career.
Dhoni was last seen in action in 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. However, MS Dhoni is one of the greatest cricketers who ended their career without getting farewell. But this isn’t surprising as he announced his test retirement in similar fashion.
VVS Laxman on MS Dhoni
“Till the time he is going to play cricket, he will be captaining CSK. I think each and every movement of MS Dhoni will be watched very closely, will be relished by each and every cricketing fan of his. So, they will enjoy each and every moment MS Dhoni spends on the cricket field,” VVS Laxman told Star Sports Cricket Connected.
“Number one is we all have to recognise that he (Dhoni) is very passionate about CSK. One of the reasons CSK has been the most successful franchise has been MS Dhoni’s leadership.”
“So, he will go out and he will do everything possible for CSK to win the trophy. But as far as the fans are concerned, I think the euphoria will be there to be seen.”
“I think MS Dhoni’s farewell game will be whenever he plays his last match for CSK. And I can tell you for sure, just like the way Sachin had that farewell match at the Wankhede, I think the farewell match will be at the Chepauk,” he added.
CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan believes that MS Dhoni will be part of IPL 2022
MS Dhoni hasn’t mentioned anything about his future in the IPL but CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, speaking to India today in earlier this month, said the 3-time title winner will be part of IPL in 2021 and 2022.
“Yes. We can expect MS Dhoni to be part of both (IPL 2020 and 2021) and probably for even the next year — 2022,” Viswanathan said.
“I am getting updates through the media only, saying he has been training in Jharkhand in indoor nets. But we don’t have to worry about the skipper, boss. We don’t worry about him at all. He knows his responsibilities and he will take care of himself and the team.”
