“Meet Gabba” – Washington Sundar names his dog after the venue of his Test debut

Washington Sundar
India scripted history in the test series against Australia as they clinched a famous 2-1 victory despite being affected by a plethora of injuries. What was even more impressive about the win was that India were shot out for 36 in the second innings of the first test. To come back from the shocking debacle and deal with the injuries with spectacular performances was nothing short of special.
Even as the injury list kept piling up, India found newer heroes in the form of their back-ups. Especially during the famous Gabba breach in the fourth test, India had a completely new bowling attack with Mohammed Siraj who had debuted in the series spearheading the attack. However, the debutants and newcomers showed heart and courage to pull off a victory for the ages and one that will be remembered for years to come.
Washington Sundar names his dog ‘Gabba’

One of the heroes for India during the Gabba test was Washington Sundar who was brought in for the injured Ravichandran Ashwin. Playing in his first ever test, the off-spinning all-rounder came up with a scintillating performance to play a key role in India’s triumph. With the ball, he picked up four wickets which came up crucial junctures in the match including that of Steve Smith in his first innings.
However, it was with the bat that Sundar was well and truly the difference as he came up with an important partnership in the first innings with Shardul Thakur to prevent a collapse. Then in the second innings, he accelerated during the chase along with Rishabh Pant to win it for India. Now, Sundar has come up with a way to remember the match and the venue – by naming his dog ‘Gabba’.
Sundar took to social media to announce the news and wrote, “Love is a four-legged word. World, meet Gabba.” Sundar will play in the upcoming IPL edition for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
