WATCH: “Aapko kya lagta hai main buddha ho gaya hu?”- Babar Azam’s epic reply when asked if he’ll leave a format

Babar Azam
Babar Azam is now considered as one of the best batters in the modern times. He is currently the No. 1 batter in ODI and T20I. In Tests, he is ranked as No.3 batter, and this makes him the only batter to top the list in all three formats.
During a press conference which took place after Pakistan lost a match by a big margin to Sri Lanka, Azam was asked by a journalist if he would consider giving up a format which might help him focus more on the other two formats. To this, Azam gave a hilarious answer which is making headlines.
“It depends on your fitness. Abhi jis tarha hamari fitness hai, abhi aisa socha nahi hai ki hum do format mein aa jaye. Aapko kya lagta hai main budha ho gaya hu? ya hum budhe ho gaye hai? (The kind of fitness that we have, I don’t think we should limit ourselves to two formats. Do you think I have become old?)” Babar replied.
The journalist then asked if the workload is more to which Babar replied, “I don’t think so. Agar load zyada hai toh us hisab se fitness badhayange hum (If the load is more then we will increase our fitness levels)
“Babar Azam can dethrone Joe Root as top Test batter”- Mahela Jayawardene

Earlier, Sri Lanka legend Mahela Jayawardene picked Babar Azam as the batter who can dethrone Test’s No. 1 batter Joe Root. Since June, Root has stayed at the top spot and enjoyed a form under the guidance of new head coach Brendon McCullum. Root also claimed the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year in 2021.
“Touch one!” Jayawardene said on the latest episode of The ICC Review, when he was asked who can dethrone Root from the No. 1 spot. “I would say Babar Azam has an opportunity. He’s been consistent in all three formats and it shows in his rankings. He’s a naturally gifted player, plays in all conditions, he’s got the game to adapt as well,” Jayawardena said.
