Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took on Delhi Capitals (DC) in their fourth game of the season on Saturday. DC captain, David Warner won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. The host team got up to a good start as they added 47 runs in the first six overs for the loss of one wicket. However, the finish was not up to the mark as Anuj Rawat and Shahbaz Ahmed struggled to get going.

While Shahbaz did chip in with an unbeaten 20 off just 12 balls, Rawat, who was brought in as an Impact Player, ended up with a 22-ball 15*. This sluggish knock from Rawat attracted criticism from all corners. However, Rawat shut all those critics with a brilliant effort in the field.

The RCB player pulled off a brilliant run out to send back dangerous Prithvi Shaw in the first over of the second innings. As Shaw played a backfoot punch towards the right of the cover fielder, Rawat dived full-length, stopped the ball with one hand, got back up in a flash and threw the ball at the non-striker’s end to catch Shaw well short of the popping crease.

RCB tighten the grip!

This early breakthrough helped RCB tighten the grip on DC’s batting as the visitors lost two more wickets in the next two overs. While Wayne Parnell got Mitchell Marsh caught at short cover with a short delivery, Mohammed Siraj trapped Yash Dull LBW.

On the back of these three wickets, RCB managed to reduce DC 2-3 in 2.2 overs. However, Manish Pandey and David Warner helped DC recover to some extent as the pair kept RCB devoid of a wicket for a few overs.
