Devin Clark and Azamat Murzakanov will be the standard Light Heavyweight fight on the UFC Sandiego card, which will be headlined by Dominick Cruz and Marlon Vera. Both fighters have an impressive record and are sure to bring along the fireworks for the California crowd.

Clark is a longtime UFC veteran who currently has an MMA record of 13 wins and 6 losses. Having fought at heavyweight in his previous bout against William Knight, where he scored a late TKO victory, Clark will be returning to light heavyweight in hopes of building up a winning streak. He fights out of Jackson Wink MMA so he surely has the right kind of guidance around him. Fun fact he was also featured in the very season of the now famous UFC Web Series, Dana White Looking For a Fight.

Azamat Murzakanov is a rather new face to the UFC landscape but his debut and fights since have given us good reason to be excited about this prospect fighting out of Russia. He made his way into the organization with an impressive round 1 TKO in his appearance on the Dana White’s Contender Series. He made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 202, where he scored another KO, this time by flying knee against Tafon Nchukwi. He has previously fought for organizations like the Brace CF and ICFC where he has molded his overall MMA record of 11-0

Round 1

Respecting the vetran experience of Clark, Azamat stays out of his range as he figures out a way to work inside. Both fighters are very light on their foot almost circling the Octagon. Azamatlands a lead hook that pushes Clark off rhythm, Clark responds with a reverse spinning kick. Azamat Murzakanov lands a flush left to the body that seems to have hurt Clark. Clark lands a beautiful head kick as Azamat tries to initiate a takedown, forcing the Russian to clinch against the cage. They spend the rest of the round in that position

Round 2

Clark lands the first strike in round 2 with a leaping right hand, and Azamat lands a brutal overhand that sends Clark fleeing. He builds upon this by following with heavy punches and engaging in the clinch momentarily. As they break away, Azamat lands another overhand, this time sending Clark flailing to the canvas. he tries to finish the fight but is prevented from doing so, thanks to Clark pulling guard. Azmat looks to gain side control but lets Clark back to his feet. He lands a brutal knee the moment Clark isn’t grounded anymore, Clark initiates a clinch with 30 seconds left in the round

Round 3

Both fighters have stepped on the gas pedal at the start of round 3 and look for a finish, walking into and throwing strikes of their own. Murzakanov however gains the upper hand here, connecting with a hard body shot, that sends Clark straight to canvas. He looks to put in his finishing touches, succeeding this time, winning via TKO.
