Misfits Boxing held a special kickoff press conference for the upcoming Tommy Fury vs. Darren Till fight card. It only recently got the official nod for January 18, 2025 at Co-op Live in Manchester, United Kingdom. But the pre-fight kickoff press conference only went so long, with John Fury present. This is for the Misfits & DAZN: X Series 20.

The festivities started unfolding LIVE at 12 p.m. ET. The two fighters, along with their teams, got into a skirmish at the Misfits & DAZN: X Series 20 setup when John Fury threw a bottle at the loudmouth ex-UFC star. Till, a former UFC title challenger, said he wasn’t threatened by the Furys. It marked the start of an escalation of words that ended in a chaotic scene.

Tommy Fury (10-0, 4 KOs) is yet undefeated and fresh off back-to-back decisions wins over social media pugilists Jake Paul and KSI. The latter served as the emcee as the kickoff but couldn’t stop the skirmish that proved too much. Meanwhile, Darren Till is fresh off a Round 2 TKO over Mohammad Mutie at the Social Knockout 3 event at the Coca-Cola Arena. Though not his fault, that too ended in a skirmish of its own.

Whether this attempt to sell Till as a loose cannon will do anything to boost ticket sales remains to be seen. Throwing stuff was a big gimmick at DAZN: X Series 10 as well. But if nothing else, it should at least make for some entertaining banter in the run-up to their showdown in Manchester in January.

Fight fans react to weird brawl at Misfits & DAZN: X Series 20 kickoff presser

Someone. somewhere out there thought it’d be good to pit John Fury and Darren Till at arms length. Till (1-0, 1 KO) ended his exhibition boxing debut for Social Knockouts 3 in Dubai with a brawl. Till has ended many of his runs with a brawl. Even when he did not, him tending to start a scrap out of pocket has been infamous. When in doubt, ask ex-UFC slugger Mike Perry, who he often clashed with.

Meanwhile, the less that is said of papa Fury – the better. During the Queensberry Promotions pre-fight Media Day & “Grand Arrivals” for the heavyweight undisputed showdown, John Fury went berserk and headbutted on Oleksandr Usyk’s entourage – Stanislav Stepchuk. Fury has also daringly challenged former world champion Carl Froch to weigh in on his boys, and challenged Mike Tyson.

Creepy Papa John has proved he often loses the plot (sometimes even his shirt) for it. Hence it’s no surprise he’d involve himself again. Till mocked Tommy Fury that unlike him, he’s a proper fighter (saw his release from his UFC contract back in early 2023) and would kick him in the face. That’s when John Fury got in and all hell broke loose. Here’s what fans think of it:

Most fans have unanimously said that the older Fury is just prone to starting scraps premature. While some find it funny, other’s think it was by design. The Fury (younger, legitimate one) vs. Till showdown is to air on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV). Expect more Misfits Boxing fights , minus the brawl, to happen in the coming days.
