Cameron Green had tested COVID positive just days before Australia’s 2nd Test match with West Indies. Along with him, coach Andrew McDonald had also tested positive. Despite being infected with the virus, the duo were allowed to participate in the Test match.

During the national anthems played before the start of the match, Green was forced to stand away from his teammates. He wasn’t allowed to be in the same dressing room as his teammates, but got a separate room for himself.

Being sent to bowl, Green stood at his usual spot in the field at Gully. When Josh Hazlewood managed to get Kraigg Braithwaite caught behind, his teammates ran to celebrate with him. Green, forgetting that he needs to socially distance himself from his teammates, ran to celebrate as well. Hazlewood, realizing the all-rounder came near him, jokingly shooed him away.

Australia dismantle West Indies top order

Australia had beaten West Indies in the first Test with ease, they looked for a whitewash. They named an unchanged XI, despite Cameron Green having Covid.

Hazlewood was the first to strike by getting captain Kraigg Braithwaite caught behind in the 8th over. Pat Cummins struck six overs later by dismissing Kirk McKenzie.

Mitchell Starc then enforced a batting collapse as he got the wickets of Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Alick Athanaze and Justin Greaves. Athanze’s wicket is his 350th Test wicket as well.

The World champions are facing a fight back from Kaven Hodge and Joshua da Silva, who are focused on preserving their wickets to ensure the tail isn’t exposed early. Despite being tested positive for covid, Green was given the ball to bowl with. The ball is regularly sanitized after he has contact with it.
