The Australian GP has been an exciting affair for fans with an interesting turn of events. Championship leader Max Verstappen suffered a burnt brake issue and had to retire from the race. Moreover, , Lewis Hamilton suffered from an engine failure and was forced to park his car on the side of the track.

The 2024 season was off to a rocky start for Brackley as the team failed to match the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari. The Australian GP weekend has been rather unfortunate for the Silver Arrows, especially Lewis Hamilton as the Briton was eliminated from Q2 in Qualifying. The seven-time world champion’s engine blowout was the salt in the wound for the German manufacturer.

The Australian GP 2024 edition also has a relatively higher temperature causing troubles to multiple drivers on the grid. During the 17th lap around Albert Park, Hamilton had to slow down on the side. Following the failure, the Briton immediately called the issue with the race engineer and stopped safely. Hence, the Australian GP is one another weekend that the team would like to forget.

Fans shocked over the shocking turn of events at the Australian GP

In a recent tweet on X, multiple fans shared their shock over the interesting race weekend. One fan recalled Hamilton’s bombshell move to Ferrari and asserted that “It was for a reason”. Additionally, a particular fan recalled how Verstappen was out of the race and shared their shock over the race. Another fan added that the Australian GP got “Interesting by the minute” following these events.

Multiple other fans were seen laughing over the entire matter as two of the best drivers on the grid had to retire early from the race. Another fan pointed towards the hot weather at Albert Park and how the temps caused issues. Another fan was spotted commenting on how they were “In Pain” following Hamilton’s early retirement from the race.

Such an Australian GP was not something Mercedes had in their minds. In contrast to Hamilton, George Russell has a much better drive compared to his teammate. As a result, the point disparity between the leading rival teams would increase for Brackley in the 2024 season’s championship.
