The January 4 fixture between the 8-8 Baltimore Ravens and the 9-7 Pittsburgh Steelers promises to be a nail-biter. The Steelers must win to lock up the AFC North and a wildcard spot, while the Ravens could spoil the mood inside the Acrisure Stadium with a win.

If the Steelers had won more games, then they wouldn’t be in this position. However, the Pittsburgh franchise did not take advantage when the division was open for taking. Aaron Rodgers has certainly made an impact in his first year with the Steelers, but at 42, he’s no longer quite the MVP-level quarterback he used to be.

Fans experienced it firsthand last week when the Steelers failed to put away a 4-12 Cleveland Browns. Rodgers completed 53% of his passes for 168 yards and threw zero touchdowns. He struggled to spread the field without the presence of big-bodied receiver DK Metcalf, who is serving a two-game suspension for an altercation with a fan.

Meanwhile, the Ravens caused an upset in Wisconsin. Tyler Huntley started at the quarterback spot with Lamar Jackson busy nursing his back. Huntley threw one touchdown pass to Zay Flowers, but the star of the show was Derrick Henry. Henry, 31, rushed 36 times for 216 yards and scored 4 touchdowns against the Packers’ helpless defense.

The good news for the fans is that Jackson is set to start in Pittsburgh. The two-time league MVP played in the reverse fixture in Week 14, which the Ravens lost 27-22. He completed 19 passes for 219 yards, threw one touchdown, and had one interception. He further added 7 carries for 43 yards and one score on the ground. Henry had 25 carries for 94 yards.

Metcalf had one of his best games in a Steelers jersey. He capped off with 7 receptions for 148 yards, but he isn’t eligible for Sunday’s game. Rodgers threw 23 completions for 284 yards and one touchdown. Rodgers has a 4-1 record against the Ravens. He has accumulated 2089 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions against the Baltimore franchise in his career.

Why can the Ravens win?

Jackson’s availability is a big development for the Ravens. Despite his injury woes, Jackson has all the ability in the world to win games. Moreover, Derrick Henry has found his form in the nick of time. Henry has accumulated 1469 yards and 16 touchdowns this year and will play a key role on Sunday.

The Ravens’ secondary isn’t great at defending lobbed passes, but the defense is among the best at stopping the run. They have averaged 107.1 yards, conceding just 16 TDs on the ground.

Why can the Steelers win?

Rodgers has to play lights-out football if the Steelers want to play wildcard football. Moreover, it could also be the final game of his career, but he would prefer to extend the adventure as long as possible. The Steelers must rely on the run game.

Kenneth Gainwell and Jaylen Warren have combined to put up 2800+ all-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns. The Steelers have the sixth-best red zone defense, allowing just 50.9% of opportunities, but they also have the fourth-worst passing defense, surrendering an average of 245.3 yards.
