Miguel Delaney, a famous journalist with The Independant, got into a virtual squabble with Qatar-based Mohammed Al-Kaabi on Twitter on Monday. Delaney, a strong advocate of human rights, tweeted a story of an individual who was apparently being held without proper trial after complaining about not getting paid. He used the story to call out those who have labelled the anti-Qatar sentiment as “racist”. In his post, Mohammed Al-Kaabi claimed that the story of the man shared by the spaniard is wrong. He also went on to claim that the Manchester United takeover is just a matter of time.

The takeover race for Premier League giants, Manchester United, is on with Qatari Investors and Britain’s Sir Jim Ratcliffe leading the charge. Qatari Investors placed an official bid of £4 billion for Manchester United, as they look to takeover the Red Devils. A relative of the Emir, Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is the face of the bid for the Mancunian club.

Delaney tweeted, “Anyone lobbying for Qatari ownership or saying criticism of the bid is “racist” (a preposterous argument) should read Abdullah’s story as one example. I spoke to his brother. He’s got two young kids wonder where their father is.” Mohammed Al-Kaabi replied to Miguel Delaney’s tweet, “My friend, don’t talk about things you don’t know. I note that you are one of the strongest opponents of the Qatari takeover of Manchester United. But I’d like to assure you, we’ll be doing a total acquisition soon.” Delaney, published a shocking article on December 17 2022, writing that a man named Abdullah Ibhais was imprisoned after working on Qatar’s World Cup.

According to reports, The Jordanian National advised the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy to acknowledge their failure to pay the workers who were in a strike at the Al Shahaniya labor camp in August 2019. Abdullah Ibhais was later arrested, and Human Rights Watch and Fair Square, a Human Rights Research and Advocacy group characterized as an ‘unfair trial.’

A recent survey conducted by The Athletic has shown that the majority of the people want Sir Jim to takeover the club. However, his INEOS group is also laden with debt and their official bid is only for 69% of the club.
