‘Went easy on him’ – Joe Rogan reveals why Khabib Nurmagomedov didn’t SMESH Justin Gaethje on his retirement fight

Joe Rogan talks about Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje
There is no doubt that Khabib Nurmagomedov is undoubtedly one of the most dominant forces to ever grace the octagon. However, this Joe Rogan insight will absolutely blow your mind about the Dagestani fighter’s dominance during his reign as the champion.
Joe Rogan has been commentating for the UFC for the last two decades and there isn’t anything about fighting that the celebrity broadcaster has not seen. Rogan has seen thousands of amazing fighters during his time calling fights but the podcast host/comedian holds legendary lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov on a different pedestal from the other fighters. Rogan has always had praise for the Dagestani and also has argued that he could be the greatest UFC fighter of all time in terms of dominance in the octagon.
It is shame that the world did not get to see more from The Eagle. His last fight in the octagon was in 2020 against the dangerous Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. Khabib submitted Gaethje in the second round of the fight and decided to hang his gloves. Joe Rogan believes Nurmagomedov could have taken the fight in a different route if he wanted to but had a reason to go for the submission instead.
Joe Rogan implies Khabib Nurmagomedov was merciful against Justin Gaethje

Joe discusses with Brian Simpson on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience about Khabib and his dominance in the octagon. During his conversation with Simpson, Rogan reveals why Khabib decided to go for the submission. “If you look at the Justin Gaethje fight, Khabib almost submitted him at the end of the first round and then he submitted him in the second round,” said Rogan on his podcast.
“This is supposed, I don’t know if this is true, but what they said is that they both actually like each other, they are also managed by the same guy. So when they had that fight, Khabib liked him so he said I’m just going to submit this dude. So he got a hold of him, does his normal shit, gets his wrestling going…he chose to beat him in that way,” explained Rogan to his guest about Khabib’s submission.
The Eagle has actually said in many interviews that this is in fact true information. The Dagestani fighter did not want to cause too much pain to Gaethje so he decided he wouldn’t submit in a way where his rival wouldn’t tap and end up breaking his arm. Instead, he went with the easier submission and made sure Gaethje only went to sleep. This is just unreal levels of dominance from arguably the greatest lightweight of all time.
