West Ham United defender Issa Diop linked with Liverpool as defending champions seek for an emergency defensive signing

Liverpool have been hit with their worst injury crisis in a decade as all three of their senior centre-backs are injured along with the temporary centre-back. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez picked up season ending injuries and the remaining centre-back Joel Matip is injury prone and hasn’t managed to play five matches in a stretch without getting injured. Their defensive midfielder Fabinho was converted into a centre-back and even he is injured now.
Issa Diop is an attractive prospect due to his pace and talent and availability
While saying that Issa Diop is a stretch, it can be said that he can be signed without a major fuss as he is way back in the pecking order. Rumours state that he has slipped to fourth place in the West Ham United pecking order and is struggling for chances there. Six months of continuous and uninterrupted play time for Issa Diop will be an attractive prospect for the young defender as he is only 24 years old and could very well harness his talent at Liverpool.
Reports state that West Ham United are seeking a loan move with an obligation to buy for the £20 million rated defender. Liverpool shouldn’t be thinking too much on this move as he is tall and very fast. Liverpool centre-backs are fast paced and their main centre-backs van Dijk and Joe Gomez are tall and fast. Therefore Issa Diop would be a young replacement for the injury prone Joel Matip and can also develop under the guidance of Virgil van Dijk to be a better defender than he already is.
