Star West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels announces his retirement from all forms of cricket. Samuels, who was once the mainstay of the Windies batting order, last turned up for the national side back in 2018 against Bangladesh. Samuels has 11,134 international runs, including 17 centuries, and scalped 152 wickets to his name.
According to an ESPN Cricinfo report, Cricket West Indies chief executive Johnny Grave confirmed that Samuels had informed the governing body about his decision in June this year.

The 39-year-old has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. Samuels hurled abuses on English all-rounder Ben Stokes and his wife on social media over a remark by the latter. Samuel went on to boast about his superior skin colour before he was slammed by Shane Warne. Warne opined that he should get help after his distasteful comments.
The Caribbean batter’s best innings came against Sri Lanka in the 2012 T20 World Cup final. Samuels played a brilliant knock of 78 to help West Indies to their first T20 World Cup. The explosive batsman came to his side’s rescue again in 2016 where he played an unbeaten innings of 85 in the T20 World Cup final against England. His scintillating knock helped set up the win which handed West Indies their second T20 World Cup.
In his glorious career of 71 Tests, 207 ODIs and 67 T20Is for the West Indies, Samuels remained an integral part of the side. And won numerous games for his country with his all-round abilities.
