Conor McGregor is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars to ever grace the sport of combat sports. The Irishman is now in the preparations for his third fight against his nemesis Dustin Poirier fighting from Louisiana. McGregor has achieved so many feats in the UFC that many might only end up dreaming.
Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier head into UFC 264’s main card fight to settle their tied-up series. The first time both these fighters met was at UFC 178 at the featherweight division. A dominating display of skills saw McGregor win their first bout via Knockout in the very first round. The second time these two fighters met was at UFC 257 in 2021 when Dustin Poirierabsolutely destroyed Conor McGregor and won the bout by KO in the second round leveling the series 1-1 ahead of their trilogy fight.

Conor was quick to call out Dustin for the third fight and the Diamond sure enough accepted the challenge. Fans and analysts believe that the third fight won’t end any different from the previous bout and call for Dustin as their favorite. I know it sounds absurd that the MMA world has been doubting Conor’s ability to come back from the loss.
McGregor has been talking a lot of trash recently after a lot of people believe Conor’s edge that he had before hasn’t been the same since his comeback after the Khabib Nurmagomedov fight. But the real question is will Conor create the same hype if he loses the trilogy? The thing that made Conor McGregor a legend was that he was able to back his talk and cockiness. But now that he has been losing his fire recently, the people might stop buying into all his pre-fight talk.
What card does Conor McGregor play after losing to Dustin Poirier?

Well, the answer to that question is in the picture above. That’s right! Nate Diaz from Stockton should be the card that the Irishman plays in case he loses the fight the trilogy. Nate and Conor have had a gruesome past with a lot of drama which means it equals a lot of money. Nate Diaz, just like Dustin has fought two times and has won and lost having tied the series.
The first bout between the two came at the welterweight division following some of the best pre-fight trash talks the sport has ever seen. Nate Diaz absolutely stunned the world as he submitted Conor in the second round of the UFC 196 main event. Shortly after the second fight happened, this time the Irishman found victory as he beat Nate via decision at UFC 202.
Nate Diaz is making a comeback to the sport after a break against Leon Edwards. And I’m pretty sure that a Conor trilogy is a tough offer to turn down. That might be the final straw for Conor to make sure everyone’s eyes are on his fight. The Nate Diaz trilogy luckily makes sense even if Conor wins the Dustin trilogy. So this one is for sure under the radar of UFC’s matchmaker Dana White.
