The penultimate Masters 1000 of the season, the Shanghai Masters, ended in favor of qualifier Valentin Vacherot. He came from a set down to beat his cousin, Arthur Rinderknech, in what was also the third Masters 1000 final between two unseeded players.
En route to completing the fairytale, Vacherot knocked out four-time Shanghai Masters champion Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. A big tournament has ended, but the tennis world’s focus has already shifted toward another event- an unofficial one.
It’s the second edition of the Six Kings Slam. The exhibition event is scheduled to start on October 15 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The final will be held on October 18. But the 17th of October will be a rest day because of an ATP rule that doesn’t allow players to compete for three days in an exhibition event.
Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have the first-round byes, while defending champion Jannik Sinner will have to play the quarterfinals to book a spot in the last four. Sinner will clash with Stefanos Tsitsipas, and the winner will then lock horns with the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
In the other quarterfinal, the match will be between Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev. Sascha will want to take his revenge on the American ace, given that Fritz is on a six-match winning streak against him. Zverev is not enjoying great form as so far this season, he has featured in just three finals, winning only the BMW Open by beating Ben Shelton.
Fritz, however, clinched two grass-court titles- the Stuttgart Open by beating Zverev and the Eastbourne International by beating Jenson Brooksby. He also reached the Japan Open final, only to lose in straight sets to Alcaraz.
Tsitsipas, like Zverev, is dealing with a slump in form, given that he has only won the Dubai Open and struggled to make deep runs since then. Djokovic has also clinched only the Geneva Open so far this season, but he also made the semifinals of every Grand Slam event this year, plus the final of the Miami Open and the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters.
The two players who are enjoying nothing but great form are Alcaraz and Sinner, as they have shared the last eight Majors between them. Alcaraz, in fact, is the most successful ATP player this year, having taken home eight trophies from 10 finals. He was the reason why Sinner lost four finals out of the seven he played.
Prize money for the 2025 Six Kings Slam
The total prize pool for the Six Kings Slam is $13,500,000. All six players will pocket $1,500,000 just because of their participation. The winner will claim $4.5 million, with the total prize money that he will be collecting being a staggering $6 million. Last year, Jannik Sinner took home the $6 million by beating Carlos Alcaraz.

Even though it’s an exhibition event, no official tournament offers this much prize money to a winner. At present, the four Grand Slam award the most in prize money to the players.
The US Open this year broke the record when Alcaraz and the women’s US Open champion, Aryna Sabalenka, took home $5 million each- the highest prize money in an official tennis tournament.
Following the Six Kings Slam, Sinner will fly to Vienna for the ATP 500 tournament, which he won in 2023 by beating Daniil Medvedev. Alcaraz will be playing the Paris Masters, also the last Masters 1000 of the season. Novak Djokovic will skip the Paris event and instead will play an ATP 250 event in Athens in November. Alexander Zverev will enter the Paris Masters as the defending champion.
