Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown loves listening to Taylor Swift’s music. Particularly, jamming to the tune of Blank Space.

The NFL wide receiver became the eye candy of both the Kansas City Chiefs fans and the Swifties in one fell swoop back in March 2024.

Brown was without a team even though he finished as the Arizona Cardinals second-highest receiving yards getter with 51 catches for 574 yards and four touchdowns through 14 starts. He was a hot commodity, and teams were ready to take a gamble on a wideout entering his prime years.

The Chiefs brushed aside all the competition and brought Hollywood to Kansas City on a one-year contract worth $11 million.

NFL stars have varied interests. While some pack their bags to hit the beaches or go skiing, Brown prefers to connect with his fans through online streaming platforms. During one such stream, Brown received confirmation about playing for the reigning Super Bowl champions at that time while listening to Taylor Swift’s Blank Space, which has over 3 billion views on YouTube.

How was Hollywood Brown’s first year with the Chiefs?

The AFC West franchise desperately needed a receiver. General Manager Brett Veach needed to fix the pass-dropping issue in the receiver core with a safe pair of hands. Brown fit the profile, and his asking price was relatively cheap. So signing the former Oklahoma Sooner was a no-brainer.

Patrick Mahomes was ecstatic after hearing the Chiefs signed Hollywood Brown. After the first-rounder put pen to paper, reporters asked Brown, who revealed one of the major reasons for joining the Chiefs was Mahomes.

He wants to win; [Patrick Mahomes will] do everything necessary to win. That’s somebody you want to play with; you want to play with someone who will bring the best out of you.

Hollywood Brown said

The OTAs went without a hitch, but Brown suffered a sternoclavicular injury during pre-season, and the Chiefs placed him on injured reserve. He missed the entire campaign barring the final two games (weeks 16 and 17), recording nine receptions for 91 yards.

Brown played all three of the playoff games, including the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Unfortunately, he missed out on a first ring after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.

A question mark was placed on Hollywood Brown once the season ended. Head coach Andy Reid saw enough in Brown to keep him, and they needed a receiver to partner Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy after DeAndre Hopkins joined the Ravens.

What did Hollywood Brown say after re-signing with the Chiefs?

The Chiefs are among the few organizations that bring back their former players for a second or even a third spell. Brown revealed he wanted to continue with the Chiefs because his first year wasn’t according to his plans.

Brown is excited to work with Worthy and Rice once more.

The sky’s the limit [for us three]… We’re trying to push each other to be the best. Ultimately, I do feel like we could do something that’s never been done before.

Hollywood Brown told ESPN’s Adam Teicher

A healthy Brown can do some serious damage for the Chiefs. The best position for him is in the slot with Worthy and Rice on either wing, creating diversions. Mahomes’ arm talent is no secret, and he has all the power a quarterback needs to throw deep balls near the end zone. Reid must allow Mahomes to go deep and move away from frequently relying on Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco.

The last time Brown played a full season was back in 2019 when he recorded career highs with 91 catches and 1,008 yards. So far Brown has appeared in 66 total games, catching 322 passes for 3735 yards and 28 touchdowns.
