As Nick Bosa continues his rehab, an old video of the San Francisco 49ers star pass rusher reappeared on Twitter. In the 51-second clip, reporters asked Bosa about being reprimanded by the NFL for wearing a MAGA hat on game day.

With the midterm elections around the corner, video clips of several NFL players have resurfaced in the last few days, including Bosa’s. In the clip, reporters asked the 29-year-old defensive end whether the league had contacted him about endorsing Donald Trump and the Republican Party on game day. Bosa replied:

I don’t know… I haven’t gotten one yet. If it comes, it comes… [But] it was well worth it.

On October 28, 2024, the Niners hosted the Dallas Cowboys at Levi’s Stadium. The Niners won the contest 30-24. Bosa recorded 3 tackles and sacked Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott once. After the final whistle, Bosa photo-bombed Brock Purdy’s interview. He showed off his white MAGA hat.

His actions divided the internet. While one section of supporters backed Bosa, others pointed fingers at the league for not administering any punishment. Bosa didn’t budge. In fact, he became bolder. After Trump was re-elected to the Oval Office, Bosa celebrated the victory with the ‘Trump Dance‘ against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in November.

Is Nick Bosa playing for the 49ers?

The Niners started the season 6-0 until the Falcons broke the streak last week. The defense conceded 29 points, three touchdowns, and failed to force a turnover.

Bosa’s absence affected the pass rush. That has been the story of the Niners’ season so far. Despite occupying the NFC No. 1 seed, they have given up at least 29 points to three teams.

Bosa has featured in two games—Week 1 and 2. The Niners reduced the other teams by 7 and 12 points, respectively. He racked up 7 tackles and two TFLs. Ahead of Week 3, the Niners announced that Bosa had a calf strain. He missed the next five games.

Speaking on KNBR on Tuesday, general manager John Lynch said Bosa still needs to get through a full week of practice to determine whether he can play in Week 9. He said:

He has got to go through the week of practice. He is tracking well to be back. The goal is to have him back and keep him back because he is a difference maker when he’s on the field.

Bosa left the Week three game against the Cardinals last season with an apparent knee injury. It was later revealed to be an Achilles tear. After undergoing surgery, the Niners placed him on season-ending IR.

He watched a few games from the VIP suite and continued rehab. The Niners qualified for the playoffs after finishing third in the NFC West. A win over the Eagles set up a divisional fixture against the Seahawks. Seattle won 41-6 and later won the Super Bowl.

The Niners drafted Bosa with the second overall draft pick in 2019. He has recorded 285 tackles, 93 TFLs, 64.5 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, 5 forced returns, 9 pass deflections, and two interceptions in 87 regular-season games. In 12 playoff games, he has recorded 50 tackles, 13 TFLs, 10 sacks, and two passes defensed.

Bosa won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2019. He won the best defensive player award in 2022 after racking up 51 tackles, 19 TFLs, 18.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and one pass defensed. Bosa played college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He is the younger brother of Pro Bowl defensive end Joey Bosa.
