The Golden State Warriors were serious title contenders as their Big 3- Stephen CurryDraymond Green and Klay Thompson were set to return. But with their marquee player Klay Thompson out for majority of the season courtesy to a torn Achilles in his left leg. Even ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has confirmed that Klay Thompson has indeed suffered a season-ending Achilles tear. 

The leaves a huge dent on the team’s title hopes. It won’t be a surprise if Thompson’s absence affects the Dubs in every way. The big three of Draymond Green, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson has been one of the most dominant trios ever. 2020-21 season was expected to be the comeback year for them. 

Klay Thompson’s season ending injury 

No one could doubt the abilities of Thompson and his importance in clutch situations.

The injury to Thompson just decreases the Championship window the Dubs have with the Big three. With Draymond Green already showing signs of slowing down and the uncertainty that looms over Thompson. Missing the latter’s attacking intent could lead up to vulnerability at the back. 

The Warriors might need to add another star with Steph Curry to be contenders again. Having said that, with the Warriors star man missing the entire season, the Warriors will find it very tough to compete. It will be intriguing to see how they approach the season. 

As the lair of uncertainty creeps over the Golden State Warriors, it remains to be seen whether or not Dubs will finally make a move in the trade season. For now, time is against their side, whatever they do, things need to happen accordingly for the Warriors to bounce back this season.
