Where they are now: Manchester United wonder kid Adnan Januzaj
Adnan Januzaj has revived his career at Real Sociedad and is now attracting attention from clubs like Southampton and Brighton

Manchester United Adnan Januzaj was a wonder kid who suffered from the same curse some of them suffer. Almost every young player dubbed as a wonder kid fade away without any impact barring a few. Players like Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Trent Alexander Arnold and Joao Felix have beaten the curse, but not everyone does that. Adnan Januzaj is one of those who didn’t.

Breakthrough at the Theatre of Dreams

Adnan Januzaj signed for Manchester United from Belgian side Anderlecht when he was 16 years old. He made his debut for Manchester United in the 2013/14 season under David Moyes. His debut coincided with the dark period in Manchester United as Moyes couldn’t manage the team properly. He also had to compete with the likes of Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney for starting spots in the team.

Januzaj scored twice against Sunderland when he made his Premier League start. His brace gave Manchester United a comeback win over struggling Sunderland then. After that he faded of the spotlight as his form dipped and he couldn’t do much for Manchester United’s misfortune. The next two seasons under Louis Van Gaal wasn’t successful too as he didn’t get to play much. In the August 2015 he was loaned to Borussia Dortmund and recalled back after six months as he made only 12 appearances there. A year later he was loaned to Sunderland in August 2016 but failed to make an impact there too.

Finally Real Socieded signed him up on a permanent transfer and he has had a revival there. Januzaj starts in every match there and his performances have not gone unnoticed. Clubs like Southampton, Brighton and West Ham are reportedly interested in him and he will definitely love a move to the Premier League now.

It just goes to show having talent isn’t enough and you need the passion too. Hopefully Adnan Januzaj can prove his critics wrong now with his new found passion.
