McKeown turned her sadness into hunger and motivation which inspired her to break the world record, as her dad’s last wish was to see her race at the Tokyo Olympics. She is currently training under her coach Chris Mooney and practices at the Spartans Swim Club/Sunshine Coast. Apart from swimming McKeown enjoys surfing.

The swimming events at the Tokyo Olympics are going to be exciting, with the best of the best racing in several of the races. Kaylee will be supported by many and wishes to win a medal at the Olympics for her late father.
