Britain’s fastest woman in recorded history, Dina Asher-Smith, will be a force to reckon with at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. The reigning 200m world champion is a lethal threat in short sprints.

The current British record holder dominated the 2018 European Championships in Germany emerging as a triple champion with golds in 100m, 200m, and 4x100m events. In 2020, the sprinting star got her own Barbie doll in toy company Mattel’s ‘Sheroes’ series.

British sprinting icon, Dina Asher-Smith dated British sprinter Zharnel Hughes for about a year. However, the couple broke up in 2018 prior to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. “We are fine, we are still friends,” Asher-Smith had said in 2018. “I won’t go into the details because that is personal life but we are cool, absolutely fine,” she added.

200m world no. 1, Dina Asher-Smith found it “hilarious” that people cared whether she had a boyfriend. “I am not a celebrity so I didn’t think it was that much of a big deal to be in the papers,” she had said at the time. “It is hilarious that people care if I have a boyfriend. I can’t wait to tell him,” Express quoted her as saying.

Zharnel Hughes was the training partner of Jamaican legend Usain Bolt up until the latter’s retirement. Current world no. 3 in the 100m, he will be looking to clinch an Olympic medal. As of 2021, the reigning European champion is all set to join Asher-Smith in the Tokyo Olympics where both of them will be representing England. Hughes will be competing in the 100m event.
