“Who’s the champion?,” Paul Pogba reportedly gloats after winning sprinting exercise

Manchester United rolled back the years after their mesmerizing performance against their old-time rivals, Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday. Having a dismal home record this season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side knew that they had to step it up against their rivals at Old Trafford, whom they faced in the league for the first time in 16 years. The Red Devils did just that, hammering Marco Bielsa’s side 6-2 to climb to the third place in the Premier League.
Scott McTominay scored two quickfire goals in the opening three minutes. Bruno Fernandes scored a brace while Daniel James and Victor Lindelof were also on the scoresheet. Paul Pogba was surprisingly left on the bench during the match against Leeds, even after a good performance against Sheffield United in the mid-week clash.
Paul Pogba played no role in the thumping victory over Leeds United as he was not called upon from the bench to play a part in the match. However, one incident as reported by The Athletic has caught the attention of the fans. Paul Pogba was involved in a sprinting exercise with his teammates after the victory over Leeds United, which he managed to win. The French international gloated about his victory and exclaimed, “Who’s the champion?.”
The kind of competitive spirit Ole wants to see in Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba was signed by Jose Mourinho when he took over Manchester United’s manager role in 2016. However, the Frenchman has not quite lived upto his price tag of 89 million pounds and has failed to deliver on a consistent basis. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has always considered Pogba a vital part of his squad and his statement and spirit which he showed after winning the sprint would have delighted the Red Devils Boss.
Pogba, Eric Bailly, Donny van de Beek, Mason Greenwood, Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani had indulged in a sprinting exercise after the match against Leeds, which the Frenchman won and was in high spirits after that. Solskajer would love to see this fighting spirit of Pogba more often if United are to become serious Premier League title contenders this season.
After being a substitute for the full 90 mins against Leeds United, Paul Pogba is expected to start against Everton in the mid-week trip to Goodison Park for the Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash. He will also a pivotal role in the weekend clash against Leicester in the Premier League, who are currently second in the table. With fixtures coming thick and fast, it might have been a good decision to rest Paul Pogba.
