As the New York Giants head west into the SoDo neighborhood of Downtown Seattle to play a strong Seattle Seahawks, they will be without one of their strongest players, Malik Nabers.

The New York Giants surprised everyone on draft night, opting to select LSU wide receiver Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick. It was highly thought that the Big Blue might attempt to address their quarterback position. The Giants skipped first-round quarterback J.J. McCarthy while he was available to draft Nabers.

However, Nabers’ promising start to his rookie season was cut short by a hamstring injury, forcing him to miss the Giants’ Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, who has been a promising addition to the team, will miss the game due to a concussion. Giants HC Brian Daboll announced the decision to focus on his recovery.

We won’t travel him [to Seattle]. [We’ll] keep him home. He’ll be inside [Friday]. He is making progress, but we’re going to do everything we can do to get him as healthy and right as we can.

Brian Daboll told the reporters

Nabers picked up the injury while attempting a catch only to bang his head on the ground while playing the Dallas Cowboys for a 15-20 loss last week. The New York Giants have an opportunity to showcase some of their younger talents. Jalin Hyatt, a third-round pick from last year, could see increased playing time.

Darius Slayton is likely to step into Nabers’ role, and slot receiver Wan’Dale Robinson. Robinson, a significant contributor with 38 targets would likely be expected to do much more. Additionally, starting running back Devin Singletary is unlikely to play due to a groin injury. Although he participated in limited practice on Friday, his status remains doubtful.

Quarterback Daniel Jones will miss Malik Nabers in Seattle

His absence will make the game more difficult for quarterback Daniel Jones, who has developed a progressive chemistry with the rookie wide receiver. The Giants’ offense will miss Nabers’ versatility and ability to create mismatches. In just a mere couple of weeks, Nabers has quickly grabbed the good graces of NFL analysts and ex-players alike.

There’s no doubt he’s been a big part of our offense so far and someone who we’ve counted on in a lot of spots. So it’ll change a little bit. But the guys we got out there, we have a lot of confidence in them winning their matchups and getting open. I know we’ll play well. So we’re confident in whoever’s out there, and we’re lucky to have a deep group of receivers and a lot of talented guys.

Brian Daboll told the reporters

While the loss of a key player is a setback, the Giants need to step up no matter the circumstances. They left without even a single TD last week and they will look forward to Patrick Mahomes. Jones’ confidence in his teammates is a positive sign, and the Giants will be looking to maintain their offensive momentum.

The Giants are dead last in the NFC East behind the Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, and Philadelphia Eagles with three losses. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are supreme with a 3-1 record. The Seahawks lead the NFC West with the San Francisco 49ers on their trail.
