It is clear that Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle and the Wolves have found a recipe for success against Nikola Jokic and co.

The Minnesota Timberwolves handily beat their 2023 and 2024 playoff opponents Denver Nuggets on March 12th. The final score of 115-95 signals a blowout loss, but the margin of victory could have been a lot higher according to onlookers. This game marked Julius Randle’s sixth straight win after coming back from injury struggles. Randle missed over a month of action due to a right adductor strain in February.
This marks the Timberwolves’ fifth straight victory over Denver after going down 3-2 during their playoff matchup in 2024. It also marks a 3-0 season record over a team that seemed to have their number in 2022-23. It is clear that Anthony Edwards and the Wolves have found a recipe for success against Nikola Jokic and co. Despite losing Karl-Anthony Towns over the summer, their ability to exploit Denver’s lack of paint protection has not dwindled.
Julius Randle himself was in his element, scoring 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field. He was able to accrue these points in only 28 minutes of action. Randle got a big share of his points off the dribble, taking advantage of Aaron Gordon’s absence to impose his physicality on the shorthanded Denver Nuggets. This win also marked the 11th straight game which the Timberwolves won in which Randle played.
His wife Kendra Randle went on social media to share this interesting tidbit about the Wolves’ form guide. She quote-tweeted a post that pointed out the Timberwolves’ unbeaten run with Randle in the lineup, which shows how well the team has adapted to their offseason acquisition after losing their franchise centerpiece and getting off to a rough start early on in the season.

Kendra invited scrutiny earlier on in the season when she posted about how life in Minneapolis was different from life in New York. Julius Randle’s wife was talking about the culture shock and the difference between a city with a sprawling skyline like New York and a city spread out like Minneapolis, but her words were twisted and used out of context on that occasion.
Okay it wasn’t difficult 😂 I just said living in a condo with 2 active boys was getting hard and we were excited to have space! 💙 I love New York and will miss it and everyone dearly, just excited for my husband and for a new chapter 💙 https://t.co/YmCCwd9EBm

Julius Randle has adapted to his role in Minnesota
Randle was the single most important reason for the Knicks’ resurgence since 2020-21. Therefore, he had every right to feel hard done by after getting traded by the franchise he brought back to relevance. He had some flaws in his game (and still does), but they were exacerbated by many sections of the Knicks fanbase.
Randle also got off to a rough start during his first month in Minnesota, when he was still getting used to their defensive schemes and was often seen not exerting himself fully on that side of the ball. Since then, however, Randle has gotten a lot more responsible on that end. His shot selection has also improved (although he still has too much of a propensity to settle for jumpers).
The power forward is averaging 18.8 points on 51.3% shooting from the field through the course of March 2025. He seems to be peaking at just the right time to make a concerted playoff push with Anthony Edwards and co. The Timberwolves will undoubtedly need him to be a pivotal contributor if they wish to make another deep playoff run and build on their form from the 2024 NBA playoffs.
