The Wimbledon women’s singles final 2024 will be played between Barbora Krejcikova and Jasmine Paolini on Saturday, 13th July, at 6 pm local time. The final will be held on Centre Court Wimbledon as per tradition, and the match will be played on outdoor grass. This year marks the 138th edition of the Wimbledon Championships, considered the most prestigious tournament in tennis history.
The winner of Saturday’s final will receive a prize money of £2.7 million, which is 15% higher than the 2023 winner’s prize. Last year, the winner, Marketa Vondrousova, took home £2.35 million after winning at the All-England Club.
Regarding the tournament’s history, Martina Navratilova is the most decorated women’s singles champion in Wimbledon history. The Czech-turned-American won nine Wimbledon singles titles. The 67-year-old also has seven doubles titles and four mixed doubles titles to her name.
Krejcikova hopes to add her name to the list of winners from the Czech Republic with the title on Saturday. Previous winners include the late Jana Novotna, Krejcikova’s former mentor, Petra Kvitova, who won two titles in 2011 and 2014, and Vondrousova, who became the latest Czech to add her name to the Wimbledon record books.

The final itself is too close to call, with both Barbora Krejcikova and Jasmine Paolini coming in with confidence. Krejcikova has been the surprise of this year’s tournament. The 31st seed has beaten Danielle Collins, Jeļena Ostapenko, and Elena Rybakina to reach her first Wimbledon final.
All of these players had higher seedings than Krejcikova in this year’s tournament, with Rybakina also being a former champion at SW19.

On the other hand, Paolini sits alongside players like Serena Williams and Justine Henin, having reached both the Roland Garros and Wimbledon finals in the same season. The Italian lost to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the French Open final. However, she will be the favorite to land her first Grand Slam title on Saturday after her titanic tussle with Donna Vekic in the semifinals on Thursday.
