The official account of Wimbledon celebrated the National Siblings Day by paying tribute to sisters Serena Williams and Venus Williams for the bond they share and the legacy they have left behind on tennis. For the unversed, the 10th of April is celebrated as National Siblings Day, and seeing Wimbledon celebrate the Williams sisters made fans a bit emotional.
The Williams sisters were each ranked World No.1 in singles and won a combined 30 Grand Slam singles titles with Serena winning 23 of them. In doubles, the sisters have won 14 Grand Slam titles and three Olympic gold medals.
So overall, while Serena won 39 Grand Slam titles (singles, doubles, mixed doubles), Venus won 21 of them. From these surreal numbers, one can only guess how formidable they were during their prime. At Wimbledon, Venus lifted five singles titles while Serena won seven of them.
So when Wimbledon shared the video saluting the greatness of the Williams sisters, it teared up the netizens. In the video, Wimbledon shared some of the comments shared by the fans who wrote how, because of the Williams sisters, they started watching tennis. Wimbledon then ended the video with, “Thank You, Venus and Serena.”

Fans praised the “lovely” video Wimbledon shared, which made them emotional. Some fans wrote they are still missing Serena Williams and Venus Williams on the courts every day. Then there were some fans who repeated that they got interested in tennis because of the sisters.

Venus last clinched a Grand Slam singles title back in 2008, at Wimbledon. Serena’s last major crown came at the 2017 Australian Open, which she won when she was eight weeks pregnant, by beating Venus in the final.
They locked horns with each other in the single competition 31 times between 1998 and 2020. Serena leads the head-to-head record, winning 19 of the matches, while Venus won 12 of them.
Serena retired from the sport in September 2022 after playing her last match at the US Open. Venus, 43, has not yet hung up her racket. She featured recently at the Miami Open, losing to Diana Shnaider in straight sets in the first round.
