Sanju Devi
Indian women’s journey at the World Junior Wrestling Championships came to an end on a disappointing note. The Indian wrestlers featured in five medal bouts and ended up losing all of them. Sanju Devi and Bhateri were the only grapplers to return with medals on the final day of women’s wrestling.
Both Indian wrestlers were outclassed in the final which saw them settle for silver. Sanju went toe to toe against Alina Kasabieva and was thumped by the Russian in a one-sided bout. The Indian failed to score a single point as Alina clinched the bout under three minutes by technical superiority. Sanju looked helpless in Alina’s leg lace as the latter scored eight straight points to earn the pole position.
