Team Rhea Ripley wins opening match at Survivor Series: WarGames [via- Wrestle Ops on X]
Survivor Series 2024 kicked off with the Women’s WarGames match. Rhea Ripley‘s team, consisting of Naomi, Iyo Sky, Bayley, and Bianca Belair, took on Liv Morgan‘s team of Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, Candice LeRae, and Raquel Rodriguez. Bayley and Jax kicked off the proceedings for their respective teams. Following a back-and-forth encounter, Ripley and her team emerged victorious.
The former rivals went back and forth for five minutes before Naomi arrived in the match. Moreover, Naomi brought in multiple weapons, including a colorful kendo stick. Bayley and Naomi took advantage of the numbers game, as the latter delivered a Stinkface in the corner. LeRae then rushed past Stratton to help the WWE Women’s Champion. This allowed the heel team to gain the upper hand, but not for long, as Belair made her way.
The EST of WWE introduced a table to a loud pop from the crowd. Moments later, it was Tiffy Time as Stratton arrived to help her Queen. The duo delivered a few impressive double-team maneuvers on their opponents. Sky entered the bout, climbing the cage with her signature trash can weapon. Morgan, the only remaining participant, seemingly left out of fear only to return with a baseball bat.

Morgan hit Ripley with brutal shots to the ribs and back. The match finally picked up when Sky and Stratton delivered a Moonsault and Swanton, respectively, from the top of the cage. Stratton then contemplated cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase, only to be stopped by Rodriguez.
Rhea Ripley then handcuffed Rodriguez to the corner. This allowed Mami and Morgan to have a brief one-on-one match. This ended with Ripley hitting Morgan with a Riptide from the top corner onto a table. As such, The Eradicator pinned the Women’s World Champion inside WarGames and picked up the win for her team.

The first match at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 left fans divided online. While some were happy to see Rhea Ripley’s team win, others felt that Liv Morgan needed it more. Since its inception on the main roster, the babyface team has won every women’s WarGames match.
Many users criticized the bout, claiming it was filled with a lot of botches, only finding the last ten minutes of it entertaining. Furthermore, a few users heaped praise on Iyo Sky and Tiffany Stratton, who were termed by fans as the ‘MVPs’ of the match.

The decision to have Ripley pin the Women’s World Champion was also met with mixed reactions. Another fan predicted that The Eradicator wouldn’t win the title following the ending of the WarGames match. Nonetheless, a lot of users called for WWE to not make this a yearly stipulation.
