At the Canadian Open, Johanna Konta fought back from a set down to beat the Ukrainian 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, while Angelique Kerber knocked off the 26-year-old with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 victory in Cincinnati last week. With the US Open only a week away, the World No. 6 must reclaim her winning form in Chicago. Svitolina overcame Burel in the round of 32 when she walked over in the third set and will face Fionna Feroo in the last 16. She has a good chance of reaching her maiden season final in Chicago, where she is seeded No. 1, and fine-tuning her game in preparation for the grand slam.
