Amidst the palpable ado of Roman Reigns‘ return at SummerSlam, WWE is keeping an eye on Zilla Fatu, a report claims from Fightful Select. Fatu’s colloquially associated with The Bloodline, being a member of the legendary Anoa’i family. As some fans might’ve noticed, he was there in attendance for SummerSlam. Currently signed to Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), Fatu’s expected to continue with them for now.
He isn’t signed to WWE yet, added the report. However, one might feel that he’ll eventually end up in the Stamford-based promotion sooner or later. Zilla Fatu is the son of late, great Umaga. Moreover, he’s cousins with The Usos and Solo Sikoa. Zilla shares the same relationship with Roman Reigns as Usos do. It would be interesting to see whom he sides with upon presumed WWE debut.
Upon digging further, it can be deduced that Fatu wasn’t originally meant to be in Cleveland for Summerslam. Instead, the Anoa’i descendant no showed for an indie booking in Michigan. Despite being promoted for weeks through social media, he did not make an appearance. It’s unclear at this point whether it was a last-minute decision or not.
His WWE status remains as stated above. But one of his other Anoa’i family contemporary, Hikuleo, is believed to have already closed a deal with WWE. The latter’s a former NJPW Openweight Champion and is seemingly waiting to be factored into the creative plans.
What has changed since Roman Reigns returned at SummerSlam?
WWE would feel they hit a home run with the way things went down at SummerSlam. However, despite numerous newsworthy moments on the show, the impending return of Roman Reigns stood out. A new stat tells that he roped in a staggering amount for the company worth $800,000 within a couple of hours of his comeback.
And for those who were wondering whether he’d be portrayed as babyface after he smoked Solo Sikoa, yes, he’s indeed listed that way on WWE’s internal roster sheet, per PWInsider. But the fans could hope for the OTC to retain most of his nuances from the Tribal Chief era.
In fact, as WrestleVotes posted shortly before SummerSlam, he’s expected to joust with Sikoa over the Tribal Chiefdom. Solo’s been claiming that he has ascended the throne and now Reigns needs to force his way back into the picture. Whatever happens, it has the WWE Universe on their toes. Things will pick steam this Friday as Roman is set to appear live on the broadcast from Tulsa.
