Amidst rumors of his WWE contract nearing its expiration, Sheamus‘ return has been finally announced. Following an eight-month hiatus, The Celtic Warrior will be back on next week’s Raw in Montreal. The last time fans saw him was way back in August. Back then, the 46-year-old served as Adam Copeland fka Edge‘s last opponent in WWE. On the back of that, the Cabra-born wrestler banged up his shoulders.
That was one of the main reasons why he was written off WWE programming. Back in September, it was reported that Sheamus’ existing deal with WWE would be up in the first quarter of this year. But as per Sean Ross Sapp during his Q&A session on Fightful, it was likely that timeframe might’ve been freezed so as to accumulate the injury time onto it. And that’s exactly what seems to be happening. He’s coming back this Monday.
On Raw post-WrestleMania XL, WWE aired a hype package for The Big White suggesting that he was on his way back soon. And last night during SmackDown, it was officially announced when the former League of Nations member would show up. The fact that he’s slated to appear on the red brand doesn’t necessarily mean he’s Raw-exclusive at this point. Though, Adam Pearce would love to have him on board.
However, with the WWE Draft scheduled for April 26 on SmackDown, and April 29 on Raw, the talents are primed to switch brands. The Irish Fella has been a part of SmackDown since 2022. It might be time for him to move back to Mondays. He was recently spotted with AEW’s Miro and his wife Isabella enjoying a football game.
Sheamus might have his sights set on the Intercontinental Championship on Raw
There’s actually a lot that would intrigue Sheamus on Raw. He might rekindle his lost-love for the Intercontinental Championship with a new title holder in town. Having said that, Sami Zayn is set to defend the working man’s title against Chad Gable in front of his own people in Quebec.
The Celtic Conqueror would not mind having a run-in with either of the two men who’re slated to dupe it out for the IC strap. With Triple H leading the fray in creative, it would be interesting to see how he’d book the 4-time World Champion.
His last run mostly had to do with The Brawling Brutes. That three-pack alliance with Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland reinvigorated Sheamus’ connection with the fans. It might help his cause when the 2015 Money in the Bank winner gets back to work this week on Raw.
