The WrestleMania XL Night two main event match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes had one of the most dramatic finishes of all time. Legends like The Undertaker and John Cena made their surprise returns and helped Rhodes finish his story. However, fans expected Stone Cold Steve Austin to appear and go face-to-face with The Rock, but that didn’t happen. 

Now, according to the reports, the reason behind Stone Cold Steve Austin‘s absence has been revealed. Originally, it was in fact The Taxes Rattlesnake who was ready to take the spot at the end of the match. However, the deal collapsed due to problems in reaching a financial agreement. The Undertaker took his place and Chokeslammed The Final Boss to swing the momentum in Rhodes’ favor.

Amidst all the chaos, Cody Rhodes was finally able to hit Reigns with a third Cross Rhodes and pick up the win. Although fans would’ve liked to witness probably two of the biggest superstars in history, they got a nice surprise when The Deadman appeared out of nowhere to attack The Rock.

A few weeks ago, before WrestleMania XL, Stone Cold posted a video on his TikTok of someone sending him Easter eggs. Fans genuinely thought he was going to appear at the Show of Shows to stand against his greatest rival. In the end, even though that didn’t happen, the WWE Universe went home pleased as Cody Rhodes finished his story. 

The Miz expressed his honest opinion on The Undertaker’s WrestleMania XL involvement

Although the wrestling universe was waiting for The Texas Rattlesnake to come out and have a face-off with The Rock, The Miz thought otherwise. He felt that The Undertaker coming out to help Rhodes was the appropriate choice.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, he stated that this was the best main event he had ever seen. The A-Lister was glad that The Phenom came out to help Rhodes instead of Stone Cold. He further added that The Undertaker helping The American Nightmare was a stamp on the fact that the latter was the face of the new era. 

A lot of people were like, ‘I want Stone Cold Steve Austin.’ I love that it was The Undertaker. Because the Undertaker is the locker room leader, he’s the person that has always…if he puts his stamp on you, that means more than everything as a WWE superstar. The fact that Undertaker was out there to help Cody Rhodes says, ‘Hey, we have a new face. We have a new era, and this is Cody Rhodes’ era.

The Miz himself had a great WrestleMania XL, as he captured the Raw Tag Team Titles with R-Truth. They won’t have much time to rest as many tag teams are eyeing the titles on their shoulders. Meanwhile, for Rhodes, the new era has started and he is surely going to be involved in many fascinating storylines going ahead.
