A week after the ending to the Steel Cage match on Raw, the trio of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk met inside the ring on last night’s SmackDown. Unsurprisingly, the segment descended into a chaotic brawl. The main event angle has prompted WWE CCO Triple H to make a groundbreaking WrestleMania 41 announcement.

The future WWE Hall of Famer took to X to announce that the three stars involved would square off in a triple threat at the Showcase of Immortals. Tensions had boiled over at this year’s Royal Rumble. During the men’s titular match, Reigns and Rollins reignited their rivalry. Moments after their back-and-forth, Punk took advantage by eliminating the duo from the bout.

The Second City Saint would be eliminated seconds later, which resulted in a heated brawl on the outside. Rollins delivered two vicious stomps to his former Shield teammate, including one on the steel steps. In addition to that, The Visionary engaged in a physical back-and-forth with Punk before officials intervened.

While Reigns entered the fray at the Rumble, Rollins and Punk have been at each other’s throats since the latter’s return to WWE. This has intensified in the past few weeks with The Architect vowing to tarnish Punk’s WrestleMania main event aspirations. In fact, Rollins even helped John Cena win the Elimination Chamber after stomping his rival inside the structure.

With this triple threat match confirmed, things are bound to get more personal in the coming weeks. Moreover, Paul Heyman‘s dynamic with both CM Punk and Roman Reigns will play a crucial role. The Wiseman would also be awaiting to deliver on the favor his best friend had asked for him, which could easily change the complexion of the bout.

WWE Universe reacts to the CM Punk-Seth Rollins-Roman Reigns triple threat WrestleMania announcement

While a triple threat match of this caliber would usually elicit excitement, there were mixed opinions on the match announcement. As expected, fans on the positive side were happy at the prospect of this bout at WrestleMania. Many believe that this could steal the weekend with some even campaigning for it to headline Night 1.

Meanwhile, others claimed that a triple threat match with no stakes didn’t warrant a spot at the Show of Shows. Taking the SmackDown segment into account, users berated the usual brawl formula. Furthermore, they criticized the lack of creativity in the promos as well.

A few fans quipped that Seth Rollins was only in the match to take the pinfall. To add intrigue to the match, others suggested that the winner should receive a world title shot. Another fan further proposed that they be added to the John Cena-Cody Rhodes match on Night 2. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how things transpire on the road to WrestleMania 41.

What else has been made official for WrestleMania 41?

Other than the triple threat bout, four title clashes and one singles match have been announced for WrestleMania. After her Royal Rumble return and subsequent win, Charlotte Flair will take on Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship.

Similarly, Jey Uso has chosen Gunther as his WrestleMania opponent following his shock Rumble win. Meanwhile, John Cena will compete as a heel for the first time in over two decades. Cena is set to square off against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title.

As for the Women’s World Title, IYO SKY vs. Bianca Belair is the current plan for the Showcase of Immortals. However, that is likely to change into a triple threat in the coming weeks. Elsewhere, Randy Orton will seek vengeance against his friend-turned-rival, Kevin Owens, in a one-on-one showdown.
