Wrestling star Bobby Eaton passes away aged 62

Bobby Eaton, an American professional wrestler, who was one of the most popular tag team wrestlers of the industry, passed away at the age of 62. He had been hospitalized since July, after suffering a fall.

His passing comes just a little over a month since his wife’s death. Bobby Eaton would have turned 63 in 10 days. But Eaton had several health issues since 2006, when he was diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes. Eaton had even undergone a heart surgery in 2013.

Bobby Eaton was one of the most successful Tag Team wrestlers, and had a career that spanned over four decades. His career began at an early age of 17 where he performed for NWA Mid-America. Eaton teamed up with Lanny Poffo, to win the NWA Mid-America Tag Team titles.

Bobby Eaton was a fan of professional wrestling since his childhood. The wrestling promotion – the NWA Mid-America professional wrestling promotion, which was operated by Nick Gulas, used to organize shows in Eaton’s hometown Alabama. Eaton got involved with the promotion at the early age of 13, when he started helping in setting up wrestling rings.

Throughout his career, Bobby Eaton appeared on several promotions like World Championship Wrestling, Smoky Mountain Wrestling and Jim Crockett Promotions, among others. He teamed up with several wrestlers like – Arn Anderson, Lord Steven Regal, Koko B.Ware, Stane Lane and Dennis Condrey. He achieved the most success with the team The Midnight Express.

Out of the several Championships that he held throughout his career – the NWA/WCW World Tag Team Championships is the most iconic one.
