REVEALED: Wrestlemania 38 plans for Bobby Lashley
Lashley with MVP
Bobby Lashley has been on a dream run since last year. At the Elimination Chamber 2020, he had helped The Miz to successfully cash in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre. A few days later Lashley speared The Miz down to kick off his first reign as the WWE Champion. A dominant run continued with the title sitting firmly on the All Mighty’s shoulders for several months.
Lashley successfully defended the title against the likes of Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston and Goldberg. But his reign came to an anti-climatic end after Big E successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on him! The All Mighty started chasing the title ferociously and managed to win it back at the 2022 Royal Rumble, after pinning the then-Champion Brock Lesnar.
This kicked off a dream feud between Bobby Lashley and the Beast Incarnate, leading to a match inside the Elimination Chamber. While Lashley had the momentum to defend his title successfully, he did not get a chance to defend it! He was injured even before he could enter the match – after Rollins sent Theory crashing through Lashley’s pod!
Since that event, Lashley has not been seen in action. It was reported that the spot was included in order to write him off television as he had a legitimate shoulder issue. But several reports suggested that Bobby Lashley has been trying really hard to get himself medically cleared in order to be able to perform at Wrestlemania 38.
As per Fightful Select, WWE have indeed planned a match for the former WWE Champion. While it isn’t a Championship match, the match could definitely help Lashley to resume his dominance on the roster. The All Mighty could be up against the Giant Omos at the Showcase of Immortals. In fact, on the latest episode of Raw, Omos did issue an open challenge for Mania – which could be answered next week by the former Champion.
Bobby Lashley will need to fight his way back to the top
A match against Omos definitely means that Bobby Lashley will need to show his dominance once again and fight his way to the top. The top Championships of the company currently sit with Roman Reigns (Universal Champion) and Brock Lesnar (WWE Championship). They will be colliding in the main event of Wrestlemania Sunday in a Title Unification Match.
Irrespective of the result of the match, Lashley is a perfect opponent for either of them. While Lesnar and Lashley now have unfinished between them – Reigns is yet to have a one-on-one feud against him. In fact, considering the lack of opponents for the Tribal Chief, the All Mighty could well be the next opponent.
