Can the new challenger for Raw Women’s Championship dethrone Becky Lynch?

Becky Lynch is one of the biggest Superstars on the WWE roster currently. Not many on the roster can boast of the fact that they’ve been a Champion for almost the entire time that they’ve been active in the last couple of years. She was the Raw Women’s Champion before she announced her pregnancy and went on a maternity leave – after relinquishing the title.

At WWE Summerslam 2021, she returned to the company and pinned Bianca Belair in 26 seconds to become the Smackdown Women’s Champion. She had successful title defenses against the likes of Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair – but soon exchanged her title with Charlotte Flair for the Raw Women’s Championship, due to the WWE Draft 2021.

As the Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch first feuded against Liv Morgan and managed to retain her title on two occasions. Recently she came out looking for a new challenger – and predictably, several Superstars stepped up. Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair and Doudrop all wanted a shot at the title. As a result of this, a Triple Threat match was announced.

On the latest episode of Raw, Doudrop, Belair and Morgan battled against one another in a Triple Threat match. Towards the end of the match, Belair connected a KOD and almost got a pinfall before Lynch interfered and broke the pin. In the corner, Doudrop capitalized and hit the Banzai Drop for the win.

Now the only issue with Doudrop becoming the No.1 Contender is the fact that Lynch’s retention is almost certain. While Doudrop has been pushed extensively, her momentum is no where close to Lynch, or to Belair and Morgan’s. This is a clear indicator that this merely a one-off feud, before a massive feud kicks off between Lynch and the Women’s Royal Rumble winner!

With Doudrop securing the No.1 Contender’s spot, she is now scheduled to face the Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch at WWE Royal Rumble 2022. This is the third Championship bout being added to the Royal Rumble card. The card currently includes:

  • Men’s Royal Rumble match
  • Women’s Royal Rumble match
  • WWE Championship match: Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley
  • Universal Championship match: Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins
  • Raw Women’s Championship match: Becky Lynch vs Doudrop
  • Edge and Beth Phoenix vs The Miz and Maryse
