“She’s the Charlotte Flair of MMA”: Smackdown Women’s Champion praises Ronda Rousey
Rousey and Flair
Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey are two of the biggest Superstars on the WWE roster today. They have massive history together – and were a part of the first-ever Wrestlemania women’s main event match. While both of them had walked into the match at Wrestlemania 35 as Champions, neither of them managed to retain as Becky Lynch walked out winning the Winner Takes All match.
The Queen and The Baddest Woman on the Planet have a chance to improve their Wrestlemania records at the upcoming 38th edition of the Showcase of Immortals. Flair will be putting the Smackdown Women’s Championship on the line against Rousey in the main event of Wrestlemania Saturday.
Ronda Rousey had returned to WWE at Royal Rumble and had eliminated Charlotte Flair to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match. She was expected to go after Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s title, but she surprised the WWE Universe by announcing that she is after the Blue brand’s Champion Flair.
On-screen Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey play fierce rivals. But they are two of the greatest performers and they respect each other for the same. The Smackdown Women’s Champion recently appeared for an interview with Hot 97 and she had nothing but praise for her Wrestlemania 38 opponent.
“I have nothing but respect for her. What she was able to do and the doors that she opened for women at that time, had never been done before. Had there not been a Ronda Rousey, I don’t think there would have been a women’s revolution. I like to say that I’m the Ronda of WWE and she is the Charlotte Flair of MMA,” mentioned Flair.
Ronda Rousey attacked Charlotte Flair
On the latest episode of Smackdown, Ronda Rousey made her in-ring debut on the Blue brand in a match against Sonya Deville. Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was on the commentary for the match. Rousey picked up the win via submission as soon she applied her arm lock.
After the match, Flair stood up to Rousey. But she didn’t deal with the iconic arm bar. Rousey surprised the fans by applying the ankle lock! Interestingly, Flair tapped out. This could well be a trailer of what is to come at Wrestlemania Saturday.
