“I’m still struggling” CM Punk breaks silence after being back in professional wrestling
CM Punk has struggled to find ring gear that he’s persisted with since his surprising comeback to professional wrestling in AEW. Punk has worn long pants, shorts, and eventually, the iconic trunks look through most of his fights thus far. Given that he typically wrestled in trunks in WWE, it’s been difficult to predict what his genuine AEW costume will be.
Abe Kanan interviews CM Punk
CM Punk discussed his AEW gear and why deciding what to dress to the ring has been so challenging during a conversation with Abe Kanan of Rock 95.5 in Chicago. The Best in the World discussed his outfit for his AEW Full Gear encounter with Eddie Kingston and explained why he wasn’t an admirer of it.
Punk claimed, “I didn’t like the way they looked on me; they were a poor cut. I’m still trying to figure out how I appear in all of my gear. Trying to select the correct material and the right cut for trunks and long boys is a challenge. Man, it’s a process.”
CM Punk talks about his transition from pro wrestling to MMA, and then back to pro wrestling
CM Punk had a modest two-fight career with the UFC after quitting the WWE and taking a seven-year break from professional wrestling. Regrettably, the former WWE superstar lost both bouts in an emphatic way. Punk competed in the UFC at Welterweight (170 pounds) and talked about the adjustment he had to make after leaving WWE.
“I was approximately 210ish, 220 the last couple years of my career,” Punk said when asked how much he weighed during his final years in WWE. “Something along those lines. Like a newborn dog, I suddenly have a lot of loose skin. That’s what losing weight does for you.”
The former WWE star had grown disillusioned with the sport and had even dabbled in mixed martial arts. With AEW, things are different now; he’s rediscovering his enthusiasm for the sport.
“So is it everything I thought it would be? It’s that, times ten. My barometer of whether it’s all worth it is I look forward to being on a plane. I hate leaving my dog, I hate leaving my wife but I get excited for road trips because it’s one day and I get to do what I’m falling back in love with and I have fun with it. It’s everything I thought it could be and more times ten, it’s challenging but everything that’s worth doing is hard so it’s rewarding.”
