WWE Day 1: Legends set to collide on the first night of 2022

WWE Day 1 is all set to kick off 2022 with a packed card. Most of the top Superstars of the company have already been announced for the 1st January 2022 event. Several Championship matches, with some of the biggest names in the industry are set to be a part of the event. On the latest episode of Raw, a non-title match was also added to the card.

The Rated R Superstar Edge will be battling against the A-lister The Miz in a non-title match at the event. Edge made his return to WWE, last week on the Red brand. But his return was cut short – by another returning Superstar, The Miz. The A-lister of WWE came out with his wife, Maryse. Both the Superstars didn’t hold back and put each other down.

On the latest episode of the Red brand, the Rated-R Superstar appeared as the special guest on Miz TV. Miz mentioned that in recent times Edge has completely lost his “edge”. They even referred to the time in 2006, when Miz was “kicked out of the locker room”. He believed that a Superstar like Edge could’ve supported him during that time.

Edge called Miz an a**. The two had a heated exchange, before Miz promised to make 2022 a bad year for the Rated-R Superstar. Miz challenged Edge to a match, and it was accepted. This led to the official announcement for the match at WWE Day 1. It doesn’t seem like that this feud will be ending with a single match.  

In fact, due to the involvement of Maryse, it could be possible that we see a Mixed Tag Team match between them. Beth Phoenix, Edge’s wife, has also left the NXT commentary team – fueling up the speculations that she is gearing up for her in-ring return. Considering this is quite a big ticket match, we could see Miz and Maryse vs Edge and Beth at Wrestlemania!

So far, 4 matches have been announced for the WWE Day 1 card. Three of these are Championship matches. But with nearly 4 weeks to go for the event, many more matches will surely be announced in the coming days. One of the matches that is quite likely to be added to the card is the Raw Women’s Championship match between Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan.

The current WWE Day 1 card includes:

  • Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar for WWE Universal Championship
  • Big E vs Seth Rollins vs Kevin Owens for WWE Championship
  • The Usos vs The New Day for Smackdown Tag Team Championship
  • Edge vs The Miz
