“Don’t do that!” WWE did not want Steve Austin to do his trademark at Wrestlemania 38
Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38
Texas’ own Stone Cold Steve Austin put down one hell of a show at Wrestlemania 38, as on Night one, he came out of retirement and how! In a No Holds Barred match against Kevin Owens. We all that that this was it from the Texas Rattlesnake, but little did we know what awaited us at Night Two when we saw Steve Austin stun the WWE Vince McMahon once again, like old times. With a historic moment like that, and also as Steve Austin wrestled his final WWE match, WWE asked him to not do one of his trademarks.
WWE didn’t want Steve Austin to use his middle fingers
WWE announcer and now an occasional wrestler Pat McAfee discussed WrestleMania 38 on The Pat McAfee Show previously this week. When asked if everyone, particularly himself, was shocked that Austin’s WrestleMania appearance escalated into a match, McAfee responded yes. He also recounted some of Austin’s actions throughout his stay at the show.
“All of us, I believe all of us were,” said Pat. “I just assumed it would be some sort of fight or whatever. I didn’t know what was going to happen there. But he was working on coming out or whatever and we’re in a different era now of the WWE than we were then. So I got to watch this dude’s entrance with an empty stadium or whatever, you know? He goes right to that top rope f*cking both fingers straight up in the air, right? Straight up in the air, both fingers like this. The old ‘ah.’”
However, Stone Cold Steve Austin is Stone Cold Steve Austin and you don’t tell him what to do and what not to. He was asked not to use his middle fingers and we still saw him put them up a couple of times and there’s nothing anyone can really do about that.
The Texas Rattlesnake then continued by saying, “He’s doing his whole thing and then I see three producers run over and they’re like ‘can’t do that. Can’t do that.’ So he goes to the next one and he does it again. Can’t do that. He was like alright. So he just put his fists up or whatever. So then, as I was watching him, I was wondering ‘there is no way he keeps that middle finger down.’ Like the middle finger from Steve Austin is coming at some point. Last night he had a couple where he f*cking slipped up.”
