“I absolutely want the winner”: Drew McIntyre is ready to step up to the Unified Champion

Lesnar, McIntyre and Reigns

Drew McIntyre is one of the biggest babyfaces on the WWE roster currently. It is an amazing feat considering the company is being dominated by the Heels. 3 out of the 4 top Championships are held by Heels (WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, surprisingly, being the only babyface Champion). McIntyre has been enjoying a dream run since the last couple of years.

The Scottish Warrior has had wonderful Wrestlemanias in the last couple of years. At the 35th edition, he had collided against the Big Dog – things were quite different back then as Reigns was the babyface and McIntyre the Heel. At Wrestlemania 36, McIntyre went on to pin Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship.

But this isn’t all. Drew McIntyre once again challenged for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 37. Unfortunately, he failed to pin Bobby Lashley in the match. This year, surprisingly, he isn’t a part of any title match. The Scottish Warrior will be colliding against Happy Corbin in a non-title singles match.

But it seems like, Drew McIntyre has already set his eyes on his next feud. The 2-time WWE Champion revealed in an interview with DAZN that irrespective of the outcome of the Wrestlemania main event – he is going after the Unified Champion. Which basically means no matter of its Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar, McIntyre is coming after the title.

“I absolutely want the winner…I’m willing to work my way up. Run through as many people as I have to run through. I know that Roman is going to duck me at every corner he possibly can. Duck me, considering what happened in our last match. He knows he’s just one kick away from losing that title. But I went through enough people. I feel like I’m at the stage now that it’s time to show the world what I can truly do. If I can’t step up to Roman’s level or Brock’s level, whoever ends up being champion, I think quite frankly, I don’t want to be part of Smackdown,” mentioned the Scottish Warrior.

McIntyre vs Corbin

The feud between Happy Corbin and Drew McIntyre has been going on for eternity now. Throughout the run of this rivalry, McIntyre has faced Madcap Moss innumerable times, but the storyline just doesn’t seem to reach its conclusion. We can only expect that they are colliding at Wrestlemania Saturday for one final time.

The entire rivalry has been primarily about McIntyre’s sword. Although this is one of the weakest storylines heading into the Showcase of Immortals, considering the in-ring prowess of both the Superstars, it could well be one of the highlights of the night.
