“You’ll say Holy S**t”: Former WWE writer hypes up The Rock’s sitcom

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

The Rock is one of the biggest global personalities. Coming from the iconic Samoan wrestling family, Anoa’i he had started his career as a football player. But after going undrafted in the 1995 NFL Draft, Dwayne Johnson switched careers to professional wrestling.  He was signed by WWE (then known as WWF) in 1996.

Johnson gained immense popularity with his charismatic trash-talker gimmick. He was, undoubtedly, one of the biggest Superstars of the Attitude Era. But after 8 years with the company, Johnson departed from the company to pursue a career in Hollywood. Since then, he has continued to make sporadic appearances for the company.

After moving to Hollywood, The Rock ensured that he dominated this industry as well. Delivering some massive blockbusters like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jungle Cruise, he is one of the most popular Superstars. In fact, today he is among the world’s highest paid as well as highest grossing actors in the world.

A show on NBC, titled “Young Rock” will be returning for its second season. The sitcom focusses on the childhood of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Former WWE head writer and the executive producer of the show Brian Gewirtz recently hyped up the show while talking to TV Insider.

“The trailer was a way to get fans excited. Without getting too into it, it’s definitely more than a fleeting moment. There are definitely going to be things fans of that era are going to walk away, feeling like, holy sh**,” mentioned Gewirtz.
