Edge shares a giggle on his steel cage match against Kevin Owens

The best things in life sometimes happen by accident and so was the scenario for Edge, who was able to cross something off his bucket list this past weekend.

Edge, the WWE Hall of Famer, received a surprising call from WWE management on Christmas Eve, asking him to fill in for Kevin Owens in a steel cage match at a WWE live event on December 26 at Madison Square Garden, according to PWInsider.

Big E, Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens were supposed to compete for the WWE Championship in a triple threat steel cage match at Madison Square Garden. Prior to the start of the show, the card was modified, and The Prizefighter faced Edge.

Other events, meanwhile, were hopefully one-offs that we won’t ever see on television. However, one was a fairly obvious upgrade. It was also the first time two WWE World champions and Canadian icons collaborated. It comes out that the Hall of Famer who returned from retirement nearly two years ago has always had this in his ‘to-do’ list. We’ll let him speak for himself.

Edge ticks this his bucket list

The Canadian-born Hall of Famer turned to Instagram to write Owens the following message, revealing that a match against his fellow countryman was on his bucket list before calling it a career for the last time.

His caption to the post read as “Funny thing happened on my way to Detroit. I ended up in Madison Square Garden in a cage match against Kevin Owens. When I first got word I could wrestle again, this match was on my shortlist of things to do before I retire (for the last time). Have a feelin’ we’ll see each other again.”

Whether in a steel cage or not, the Edge vs. Kevin Owens match that Madison Square Garden spectators witnessed was a fantasy match. Let’s hope the Rated R Superstar is correct and that he will face KO again in the future.

What’s next for Edge?

Edge vs the miz

The match between Edge and The Miz has been confirmed for the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view on January 1. On tonight’s edition of WWE Raw, the match was confirmed during a Miz TV segment. When Miz was tossed out of the locker room years ago, Miz claimed that Edge was more concerned with protecting his position than with helping Miz.

The Miz and his wife Maryse will renew their vows live on air tonight on Monday Night RAW. What do you think, will Edge crash in to have a word?
