WrestleMania is the crown jewel of not only the WWE but professional wrestling as a whole. Since its debut in 1985, ‘The Show of Shows’ has been the stage where legends like The Undertaker, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, and Stone Cold Steve Austin cemented their legacies. Traditionally held in North America, the spectacle has never ventured beyond the continent in its nearly four-decade history. But that might soon change in 2027!

After wrapping up its latest edition in Las Vegas, WWE is already planning a return to Sin City for WrestleMania 42. But according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there’s growing buzz that 2027 could mark a historic shift, with WrestleMania possibly heading to Saudi Arabia. Reports even suggest the company may break tradition further by hosting two WrestleMania events in the same year, one in North America and another in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this week, Saudi General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Alalshikh teased a massive entertainment event for 2027 on social media. He later hinted to a fan by using emojis that it might have something to do with WrestleMania.

It’s no secret that The Kingdom has been eager to host WrestleMania for years. That ambition has only grown since WWE signed its 10-year partnership with the country in 2018. Moreover, multiple Crown Jewel events in the country have captured their imagination. According to Meltzer, officials in Saudi Arabia believe the teased event is indeed WrestleMania, with influential figures pushing for The Rock to headline the massive event.

It’s been well known that Saudi Arabia has been pushing for a WrestleMania for years now, and history shows that they are willing to pay a giant fee to get it. This could also turn into a ‘Super WrestleMania’ situation, akin to the Greatest Royal Rumble, by having two WrestleManias in 2027 instead of one.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter also noted that Alalshikh could be hinting at WWE using the “WrestleMania” name for a major Saudi event rather than hosting the official show there. WWE has done this before, such as WrestleMania Backlash in 2021, or using the brand for house show tours.

The 2026 Royal Rumble is already locked in for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this January, making it the most significant wrestling event ever staged there. But could WrestleMania follow soon after? This year’s WrestleMania 41 took place in Las Vegas, and WWE has already announced that WrestleMania 42 will also be in Sin City.

As of now, WrestleMania 43 in 2027 has no confirmed location, with New Orleans and Indianapolis in the mix. Saudi Arabia could be a contender, especially if WWE moves forward with the rumored “Super WrestleMania” concept.

Ariel Helwani views WWE President Nick Khan as the most important person in the company

It’s fair to say that WWE’s business growth and off-the-ring success in recent years have been driven largely by Nick Khan. From securing the groundbreaking Raw-Netflix deal to striking a major partnership with ESPN for premium live events, the WWE President has been instrumental in transforming the company’s business landscape. His impact has been so significant that veteran combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani hailed Khan as WWE’s best hire in years.

Helwani reacted to WWE’s new deal with ESPN by praising Khan. Starting in 2026, ESPN’s streaming service will become the exclusive home for all WWE premium live events in the U.S., adding to the company’s growing list of blockbuster partnerships with Netflix, NBCUniversal, and The CW Network.

And what have I said time and again — and I know that I come from a place of friendship and bias — the greatest decision that WWE has made in the last five or so years was hiring Nick Khan. Nick Khan had all the relationships in the sports media business, an incredible relationship with ESPN and Jimmy Pitaro, the president in particular.

The veteran journalist highlighted Khan’s success in orchestrating various high-value deals in the past five years.

And now you see another example of that. Their rights deal with Netflix? Gigantic. Their rights deal with NBCUniversal and CW? Gigantic. And now, this is just another sign. Do they get this without him? I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t know. He’s a massive part of it.

Helwani went further, labeling Khan the most important figure at TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of both WWE and UFC.

His influence, I’ve said it in my opinion, he’s the most important person at TKO. Now, Mark Shapiro, who I believe is the COO or maybe the President of TKO, very high. Ari Emanuel, Mark Shapiro, Dana, Nick, you know, the power players. Very important as well.

For context, Khan joined WWE as Chief Revenue Officer in August 2020 and quickly became instrumental in securing major rights agreements. His role in merging WWE and UFC under the TKO banner eventually led to his promotion to President and a seat on TKO’s board of directors.
