For weeks, there had been fan discourse on what match should go on last at Bad Blood. While most advocated for the grudge and violent Hell in a Cell bout, a few others felt that WWE’s two biggest stars teaming for the first time had the better case. The latter had been the firm favorite, according to reports. However, WWE has also been open to fan reception.

Following the online discussion, PWInsider has officially confirmed that The Bloodline tag team match will headline the upcoming PLE. Furthermore, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful revealed that WWE indicated on Monday the Hell in a Cell encounter would open the show. As a result, Cody Rhodes will not only compete in front of his hometown crowd of Atlanta but will also close out the event.

The majority of the WWE Universe has been behind the idea of CM Punk and Drew McIntyre main eventing. After all, the theme of the PLE is based on the Hell in a Cell structure. Hence, the personal and intense rivalry rightfully deserved the coveted spot. In addition to that, both stars have vowed to make their opponent bleed, which has fueled the anticipation.

Meanwhile, Rhodes will be teaming up with his longtime rival, Roman Reigns. The duo has promised to set aside their differences and take down the common enemy, The Bloodline. Reigns and Rhodes will face Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at Bad Blood. Although this bout doesn’t have the similar intense buildup as Punk-McIntyre, there is one possible reason why it warrants headlining the event.

Wrestling fans react to WWE opting to headline Bad Blood with tag team match

As expected, the decision to have the tag team match headline Bad Blood had wrestling fans divided. Some believed that the hottest rivalry of the year deserved to close the PLE. Meanwhile, others voiced that Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes main eventing seemingly confirmed a certain surprise for Saturday.

Rhodes’ interaction with Pat McAfee on Wednesday saw the latter teasing that the ‘big guy’ would be returning. Immediately, fans jumped to the conclusion that The Final Boss, The Rock, will appear at Bad Blood. Therefore, a comeback of this magnitude definitely needs to happen in the main event.

A few fans criticized WWE despite this, claiming that the company should listen to its fans. Others called out the Anoa’i family for holding too much political power in WWE. All in all, fans are hoping that both matches deliver regardless of their positions on the match card.
