WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff appeared on an episode of WWE’s biggest rival in the industry, All Elite Wrestling. He appeared as the host of the Inner Circle Celebration, on AEW Dynamite. This was Bischoff’s fourth appearance on AEW.

But the fans were surprised to see a WWE mainstay, appeared on AEW. Interestingly, Bischoff was recently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2021. On the latest episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff discussed if he could get in trouble with WWE, for appearing on AEW.

“Absolutely not. I’m going to give you a guys a little secret. A long time ago I learned that with Vince it is better to have a conversation on the frontend of things like this, well in advance, just out of respect. Not out of necessity. I’m not under contract. I do things with them, we all know that, occasionally. Throughout the year, I’ll do different things with them,” mentioned Bischoff.

Bischoff was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, after he had made a couple of appearances for AEW. He claimed that AEW was not “a big deal” for WWE. Till date, Bischoff has made four appearances on AEW:

  • Host of debate between Jericho and Orange Cassidy, August 2020.
  • Town hall meeting appearance between Chris Jericho and MJF, October 2020.
  • Press conference appearance between Inner Circle and The Young Bucks, March 2021.
  • Host of Inner Circle Celebration, May 2021.

On the WWE front, he was the Executive Producer of Smackdown in 2019, but that stint was quite short. But he clarified that he had discussed his AEW appearances with Vince McMahon, much in advance.

“I just entered into an agreement of sorts with them. It’s not for television, it’s basically a merchandising thing. I’m constantly in business with WWE and they know I make appearances in AEW, but I think early on I took the time to do the right thing and place that phone call, out of respect, and I haven’t had a question mark since – inducted into the Hall of Fame, after being on AEW,” said Bischoff.
