The former CEO of WWE, Vince McMahon is now the executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings. Having UFC and WWE merged to list into a new company, the $9.3 billion company was bought by Endeavor Group. Fairly four decades ago, Vince took over the professional wrestling behemoth and made it into what it is today.

In 1982, McMahon purchased the company from his father, Vincent J. McMahon, for $1 million, marking the beginning of WWE’s Golden Era and its ascent to global prominence. Vince’s success stemmed from his early understanding of the audience, focusing on storyline development and learning from failures to attract growing numbers of viewers.

The Attitude Era propelled the company to unprecedented success, featuring edgier content that attracted record-breaking viewership. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin‘s feud with Vince McMahon highlighted vulnerability and celebrated his contributions to WWE. The company became a media giant with massive pay-per-view sales worldwide. Television deals for their weekly shows appealed to audiences and formed the global WWE Universe.

WrestleMania‘s inception transformed it into a mainstream spectacle, drawing major celebrities. The annual event evolved into a global phenomenon, significantly boosting economic growth and providing fans with a memorable experience. While merchandise sales are often overlooked, they play a vital role in WWE’s popularity and brand-building efforts. In 2020, WWE reported $56.9 million in merchandise sales alone.

Last year might have seen the downfall of Vince due to his sexual misconduct legalities. Nonetheless, this scandal is not likely to overshadow the four decades-full stint of McMahon to make WWE a $9 billion company. The notable success of WWE will continue to flourish in the coming times because of Endeavor.

The McMahons were running WWE for years but have now ceased upon their leadership due to Endeavor Group. The former CEOs, Vince and Linda McMahon being the couple handled WWE with their authoritarian positions. While their children, Stephanie and Shane McMahon worked as wrestlers and also played authority figures.

However, the merger between UFC and WWE under the new company listed TKO Group Holdings has secured control over WWE. It marks the first time since the inception of WWE that any McMahon member has no absolute authority over the company. WWE and UFC’s merger under Endeavor Group has led to this scenario of change.

Triple H still being the creative head gives the audience the hopes for WWE’s same functioning. The only thing changed would be the company’s listing on the NYSE and would expect a partnership with UFC. The new era of Endeavor’s takeover has left WWE with decades of McMahon’s legacy to look back on and cherish.
