“They’re a family”: John Cena compares the Fast franchisee to WWE
Cena
John Cena is one of the biggest personalities in the world. He became a global star when he became a professional wrestler for WWE. Cena had kicked off his career as a bodybuilder back in 1998. He transitioned into a professional wrestler in 1999 and was signed by WWE in 2001. Playing the role of a trash-talking rapper, he became a fan favorite as the Doctor of Thuganomics.
The company saw a lot of potential in him and he was soon pushed as the face of the company. For nearly a decade he was pushed as the biggest Superstar of the company. But he soon switched careers and went to Hollywood. He delivered some massive blockbuster but 2021 was undoubtedly the biggest year for him as an actor.
For a major part of his acting career he played the always-do-good characters. But in 2021 we saw John Cena in a completely new light. He played not one but two characters with darker shades. Fans got to see him as Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad and Jakob Toretto in F9: The Fast Saga.
John Cena joined the Fast and Furious franchisee for its ninth installment. He played the role of Dom and Mia’s estranged brother – Jakob Toretto. He is initially introduced as the villain of the family who eventually moved to the good side over the course of the film. In an interview with GQ, he compared working for the movie with the WWE locker room.
“I really love the franchise and cast and crew, they’re a family. You walk on the set, these people have been doing movies together for 20 years, I’ve never seen anything like that except in the WWE locker. This is a legacy, there’s very few franchises that get to the ninth installment and still say they’re kicking a**,” mentioned the Leader of Cenation.
AEW star MJF recently praised John Cena
John Cena has been in the professional wrestling industry for over two decades. Over the years, he has inspired millions of viewers. While he has portrayed the role of a babyface on WWE TV, he was recently praised by one of the biggest heels in the industry – All Elite Wrestling’s MJF.
During an appearance on Freddie Prinze Jr.’s podcast Wrestling with Freddie, MJF mentioned, ““Love John Cena to death…But the thing you have to understand is that’s the price of greatness. You’re not always going to get along with people, that’s why me and John got along so well the one time I met up with him.”
